HOW to IMPROVE READING SKILLS.?
In this lesson, I'll share some tips on how to improve your reading skills, as well as some recommended books for different levels.
How to Read When You Hate Reading.?
The evolution of the book.?
What makes a book a book? Is it just anything that stores and communicates information? Or does it have to do with paper, binding, font, ink, its weight in your hands, and the smell of the pages? To answer these questions, Julie Dreyfuss goes back to the start of the book as we know it to show how these elements came together to make something more than the sum of their parts.

We build and maintain all our own systems rather than contracting them out, and right now we’re buying more servers than ever before. We do this without charging for access, selling user data, or running ads; instead, we depend on the generosity of our patrons to fund our infrastructure.

What We Do
LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain, and then we release the audio files back onto the net for free. All our audio is in the public domain, so you may use it for whatever purpose you wish. Please note: Our readers are free to choose the books they wish to record. LibriVox sees itself as a library of audiobooks. Because the books we read are in the public domain, our readers and listeners should be aware that many of them are very old, and may contain language or express notions that are antiquated at best, and offending at worst.
Volunteering for LibriVox is easy and does not require any experience with recording or audio engineering or acting or public speaking. All you need is a computer, a microphone, some free recording software, and your own voice. We accept all volunteers in all languages, with all kinds of accents. You’re welcome to volunteer to read any language you speak, as long as you can make yourself understood in it. You don’t need to audition, but we do suggest a 1-Minute Test recording just to check your setup. We’ll accept you no matter what you sound like.
We operate almost exclusively through Internet communications on our forum, where all your questions will be answered by our friendly community.
For more detailed information, see our FAQ.
We’d like your help. Click to learn about volunteering for LibriVox.
Resources and Partners
We get most of our texts from Project Gutenberg, and the Internet Archive hosts our audio files (for free!).

It started out small, with several ebook collections, mainly focused on the internet marketing category. Surprisingly it grew at a moderately amazing rate, but to a certain extent, it was giving out a feeling that it wasn’t enough. The topic in mind was too specific and I was sure that free ebooks can be covered in a much more general and bigger way. And that’s how GetFreeEbooks got its content today.
Surely it had its own ups and downs, technical glitches, hosting issues, submission overloads, and others, but thanks to all of your support, we have reached a level of what you’re seeing today – Great readers, great authors, and most importantly a great community that shares.

18. BookYards
The mission statement for bookyards.com is the following:
To provide the same information and content that one can receive at any large public library, and to provide it through the world wide web. The need for such a site can be explained by studying a recent Smithsonian Institute Study that discovered that while a 14-year-old American teenager had a vocabulary of 25,000 + words in his language in 1940, the same American teenager would have a vocabulary base of only 10,000 words today. Our goal/dream is to be 'The Library to the World', in which books, educational materials, information, reference materials, documents, and content will be provided free to anyone who has an internet connection. By providing it in a format that will be both easy to use, useful, and interesting, we strongly believe that we can then help in some small measure to reverse the trend that the Smithsonian Institute has discovered. By bringing such a library to the world, and providing it to everyone regardless of race, age, creed, or religion, it is also our hope that at the end of the day, we have helped in some small measure to improve the human condition. In return, we ask for your feedback and your understanding as we continue to work on updating and building this site.

What Gets Listed
The index of individual titles includes books and definitive collections that meet these criteria and major serial archives that meet these criteria. The index has two parts: a "curated collection" of books that we've personally reviewed and cataloged. and "extended shelves" of books where cataloging data has been automatically imported and adapted from outside organizations. Books in the curated collection are given preference in many searches and browse results, and they also have information pages on this site with stable URLs.

26. International Children’s Digital Library
Language barriers have never been more pronounced. Whether in an urban area of a modern country (e.g. the Chicago Public School system has 73 different languages represented in its student population) or the rural areas of a less developed country (e.g. Mongolia, where the ICDL has its first "branch" and where rural schools do not yet support a culture of reading for pleasure), differences in language are making it harder and harder for educational initiatives to bring about success.
free book Ebook |
As families move from Kenya to Finland or Brazil to Mexico or Viet Nam to California, books published in their native country or in their first language often must be left behind. In their new homelands, it may be difficult, if not impossible, to find children's books from their cultures and in their mother tongue. Parents have little access to the books and stories from their youth to pass on to the next generation. Many children must grow up without knowledge of their family's heritage and first language. A fundamental principle of the Foundation is that children and their families deserve to have access to the books of their culture, as well as the majority culture, regardless of where they live. According to a paper published in 2005 by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in preparation for the second meeting on the World Summit on the Information Society, "Denial to access to information in one's mother tongue is equivalent to a denial of a human right." The report also concludes, "In terms of pedagogy, how do children learn best? In their mother tongue."
The ICDL Foundation's goal is to build a collection of books that represents outstanding historical and contemporary books from throughout the world. Ultimately, the Foundation aspires to have every culture and language represented so that every child can know and appreciate the riches of children's literature from the world community.
